Canberra's top wines ripe for tasting in Sydney

A little piece of the Canberra region will hit Sydney this coming weekend as a selection of its best wineries head north for the Good Food and Wine Show.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for the Canberra district to showcase our many award-winning reds and whites to Sydneysiders. It will be a great representation of what our growing wine region has to offer." said Annemaree Schafferius, spokesperson for the Canberra District Wine Industry Association.

"Ten wineries and winemakers will be onsite over the three days to share their knowledge on winemaking, wine styles and of course show off their own wines with tastings for the Sydney public.

"We're sure Sydney will be impressed with the range of styles and depths of flavours achieved by our many talented winemakers busily working away just a short drive from Sydney in the nation's capital," she continued.

The Canberra district wineries attending the Good Food and Wine Show are Lerida Estate, Capital Wines, Shaw Vineyard Estate, Lambert Vineyard, Four Winds Vineyard, Mount Majura, Gundog Estate, Yarrh Wines, Dionysus and McKellar Ridge. Capital Wines will also be taking part in a Riesling tasting session at the show's Riedel Wine Theatre at 3.45pm on the Saturday.

The Canberra District is a growing cool climate wine region that's now home to 140 vineyards with more than 33 wineries, all within 35 minutes' drive from Canberra. The region is renowned for producing outstanding examples of Riesling, Shiraz and Viognier. For more information on Canberra wines visit
